NR editor comments on Sykes jokes
But Sykes wasn’t the core problem, as tasteless and awful as her jokes were. I keep going back to Sasha and Malia. The president used his daughters, two days after he let one of his staff take the fall for his administration’s use of everyone in Lower Manhattan and along the Hudson River on a clear morning as a prop in the Obama show. Nearly 3,000 Americans were murdered on a day not unlike that one, and his administration needlessly freaked out those who witnessed it. And he’s laughing.
Guess what's coming to dinner
Use nail clippings to make a pot scrubber: Run out of steel wool, but still have pots and pans encrusted with impossibly hardened food bits? No matter—create your own pot scrubber by collecting your fingernail clips and emptying them into the foot of some discarded pantyhose. Tie it off, and Voila! An instant, free, only mildly repulsive pot scrubber is yours.
"Green" bulbs poison Chinese workers
Large numbers of Chinese workers have been poisoned by mercury, which forms part of the compact fluorescent lightbulbs. A surge in foreign demand, set off by a European Union directive making these bulbs compulsory within three years, has also led to the reopening of mercury mines that have ruined the environment.
Obama borrows 50 Cents for every $$ he spends
WASHINGTON – The government will have to borrow nearly 50 cents for every dollar it spends this year, exploding the record federal deficit past $1.8 trillion under new White House estimates....
Ohio House passes phony budget
Columbus Dispatch has an editorial about the fraud being perpetrated on Ohio voters:
Some think the governor and the House leadership purposely sent the Senate a phony budget, hoping the voters would blame Republicans for the deep spending cuts that are inevitable in the Senate-passed spending plan.
It's true that, as first introduced, the Strickland budget was more a political document than a thoughtfully crafted fiscal blueprint. But the governor surely knows that he will get -- and deserve -- the lion's share of the credit or blame for the budget that eventually becomes law. The state budget is always a three-part process, and two of those parts are now controlled by Democrats.

Obama "too competent" to joke about
It's not because he's black and it's not because we're afraid. It's just that he's, just so far, just a little too damn competent and we ain't used to that. [multiple panelists say “yeah.”]
Sykes abuses conservatives at White House Correspondents' Dinner
But the comedian's tone changed dramatically when she went after former President George W Bush. "I gotta say, he broke a lot of stuff. You thought you were moving into a new home, and you've got a fixer-upper. And there are a lot of things that need to be fixed." About the criticism Obama received from animal rights activists concerning his choice of a pedigreed pup," Sykes said, "The man has to rescue a country that's been abused by its previous owner. Let him have a dog."
Banned from D-Day? Only if you're a "commoner"
The 65th Anniversary of D-Day is fast approaching. Barack Obama will attend the events on June 6th as George Bush did in 2004 for the sixtieth memorial service. Here is the rub, as of now Obama’s State Department has asked (read demanded) the French government not allow tour guide services to operate that day. It is a big day for Normandy tourism. Yet, the king will not allow those not connected with government to enjoy the day. Obama is very important you know. This is an unprecedented request. I hope the French come to their senses and deny it.
Energy prices to soar under Obama's cap and trade plan
Joe Barton at The Washington Times:
Fast forward to this week. Without actual numbers or the resulting cost estimates, we're left to ponder the broad ranges of economic damage. The news is necessarily vague, but none of it is good. Your electricity bill will increase by 77 percent to 129 percent. Filling up your gas tank will cost anywhere from 60 percent to 144 percent more. The cost of home heating oil and natural gas will nearly double.....
If Democrats manage to pass a cap-and-trade fiasco, millions of lost American jobs will likely pop up overseas.
Obama a class warrior? Nah!
A top Obama fundraiser and hedge fund manager said: "I'm appalled at the anti-Wall Street rhetoric. It was OK on the campaign but now it's the real world. I'm surprised that Obama is turning out to be so left-wing. He's a real class warrior."
*Stars* converge on D.C.
"Politicians are impressed with celebrities. Celebrities are impressed with politicians. I think people are enthralled with what they don't know," said actor Tim Daly of ABC's "Private Practice," explaining that the connection between entertainers and public officials is a mutual admiration society.

California takeover
“We will continue to make our decisions on White House requests on a case-by-case basis, but the Fox decision gives us cover to reject a request if we feel that there is no urgent breaking news that is going to be discussed,” said one network exec, who, like all, would not speak for attribution fearing repercussions from the administration.
Congress wants 15% increase for "office supplies"
“It’s an incredibly naked admission that Members of Congress abuse the franking privilege for electoral purposes, even though the rules say they don’t,” said Pete Sepp, spokesman for the National Taxpayers Union. “This sends the worst possible message not only to the taxpayers, but to the electoral system as a whole.”

$400,000 to cruise gay bars? Sure, why not.
The National Institutes of Health are paying researchers to cruise six bars in Buenos Aires to find out why gay men engage in risky sexual behavior while drunk -- and just what can be done about it.
Why are they releasing photos that will cost American lives?
A picture may be worth a thousand words, but is it worth the death of a single American soldier? Is any photograph worth the life of your Marine Corps daughter? Or your neighbor's deployed husband?
Obama cuts anti-terror budget
Much as with Obama’s cuts to federal funding for the detention of illegal immigrants, this represents yet another way in which Obama keeps cutting funding for things the government is supposed to be doing even as he spends trillions on things (bank bailouts, etc.) the government isn’t supposed to be doing.
Government health care determines who lives and dies
Read about it HERE before you decide government health care is "free" and wise.
Before Congress considers any form of government-run health care, they should hear the voices of patients denied care because the government deemed it too costly or delayed care because of long waiting lists for surgery or diagnostic tests.
Government swallows Chrysler
Give President Barack Obama credit — he at least made the proverbial offer Chrysler’s secured creditors couldn’t refuse. The way Obama strong-armed creditors who rightfully expected to be treated justly under the law was right out of Juan Peron’s playbook.

Pants on fire
Read about it at ABC Note:
Intelligence Report: Pelosi Briefed on Use of Interrogation Tactics in Sept. ’02
ABC News Rick Klein reports: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was briefed on the use of “enhanced interrogation techniques” on terrorist suspect Abu Zubaydah in September 2002, according to a report prepared by the Director of National Intelligence’s office and obtained by ABC News. The report, submitted to the Senate Intelligence Committee and other Capitol Hill officials Wednesday, appears to contradict Pelosi’s statement last month that she was never told about the use of waterboarding or other special interrogation tactics. Instead, she has said, she was told only that the Bush administration had legal opinions that would have supported the use of such techniques.
The remaking of America
Barack Obama's vision of America is one in which a President of the United States can fire the head of General Motors, tell banks how to bank, control the medical system and take charge of all sorts of other activities for which neither he nor other politicians have any expertise or experience.
The Constitution of the United States gives no president, nor the entire federal government, the authority to do such things. But spending trillions of dollars to bail out all sorts of companies buys the power to tell them how to operate.
Hard as this may be to believe...
Gov. Deval Patrick’s free wheels for welfare recipients program is revving up despite the stalled economy, as the keys to donated cars loaded with state-funded insurance, repairs and even AAA membership are handed out to get them to work.

Specter precisely changes mind, misspeaks
"In the swirl of moving from one caucus to another, I have to get used to my new teammates," Specter said. "I’m ordinarily pretty correct in what I say. I’ve made a career of being precise. I conclusively misspoke."
Afghan's only pig under quarantine

KABUL -
Afghanistan's only known pig has been locked in a room, away from visitors to Kabul zoo where it normally grazes beside deer and goats, because people are worried it could infect them with the virus popularly known as swine flu.
The pig is a curiosity in Muslim Afghanistan, where pork and pig products are illegal because they are considered irreligious, and has been in quarantine since Sunday after visitors expressed alarm it could spread the new flu strain.
Govt paying cash for used cars
Consumers would get vouchers for as much as $4,500 from the government to trade in their gas-guzzling cars under a compromise plan that could help advance a broad measure to combat climate change.
The so-called cash-for-clunkers plan could be part of climate-change legislation being pieced together in the House.
Gateway Pundit--a MUST READ

Nearly 10 years after a stunning photograph of his tiny hand traveled the world, Samuel Armas has a firm grip on what "The Hand of Hope" means to him.
"When I see that picture, the first thing I think of is how special and lucky I am to have God use me that way," Samuel told FOXNews.com. "I feel very thankful that I was in that picture."
Schumer wants to control IHOP syrup
U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer wants the International House of Pancakes to have a more local flavor.
Schumer, D-N.Y., is pushing the venerable diner chain to serve New York-produced maple syrup at its 40 locations across the state.
Anonymity requested by Chrysler bondholders out of fear
I’m still in awe of just how far Obama has taken this. I knew the Obama administration was going to be a rough one, but I had no idea that he’d be seizing companies and giving them to his political supporters like the UAW while simultaneously daring the citizens he’s screwing over to challenge him lest he use the Presidential bully pulpit to ruin their reputations and businesses.

More firms threatened by White House
Although the focus has so been on allegations that the White House threatened Perella Weinberg, sources familiar with the matter say that other firms felt they were threatened as well. None of the sources would agree to speak except on the condition of anonymity, citing fear of political repercussions.
There's nothing to laugh about The Messiah
"Late Show" host David Letterman was scathing in his mockery of President George W. Bush. But on his show recently, he scolded those who would mock the new president's reliance on the teleprompter for "political nitpicking," saying Mr. Obama is "at least out there trying" to cope with "impossible" political challenges.
Flyover photos are "classified" information
The New York Post has the details here:
"We have no plans to release them," an aide to President Obama told The Post, refusing to comment further.
The sole purpose of the secret photo-op, which sent thousands of New Yorkers running for cover, was to take new publicity shots of the presidential jet over the city.
Apparently there's trouble at the CIA
"All of us in our little community are worried -- us, our friends in Berlin, London, Tel Aviv," the DGSE officer told Jack. "It is not like the barbarians at the gates. It is every barbarian horde in the world being told there are no gates."
Bigotry of the Obamatrons
Recently, at the office (a place I sometimes affectionately refer to as Obama Central), I made the mistake of printing out a Washington Post editorial that questioned the foreign policy expertise of our new Commander-in-Chief. By the time I got to the printer to pick it up, someone else had already seen it - and stamped “DENIED” across the top of the page in red ink. Next to that was scrawled, “RIGHT WINGER GO HOME.”

Adorable First Lady wears new $540 sneakers! World swoons!

Remember when Michelle Obama poo poo'd the Bush stimulus of $600 as nothing asking what could you buy with that, a pair of earrings? She got a little bit of criticism for that (although not from the MSM) when her husband's big huge spendulus package contained a whooping $400 in tax relief.
Why do they have to mess up EVERYTHING?
Sponsorships and TV revenue that now go to bowl games would instead be spent on playoff games, "meaning that it will be very difficult for any bowl, including the current BCS bowls, which are among the oldest and most established in the game's history, to survive," BCS coordinator John Swofford said at a congressional hearing.
Internet running out of space
Internet users face regular "brownouts" that will freeze their computers as capacity runs out in cyberspace, according to research to be published later this year.
Experts predict that consumer demand, already growing at 60 percent a year, will start to exceed supply as early as 2010 because of more people working online and the soaring popularity of bandwidth-hungry Web sites such as YouTube and services such as the BBC's iPlayer.
