It's all about balance of power
Who knows what mischief can be created when one party holds all the power? Who knows what Republicans would do, if this fever for power seized them and they had the opportunity? (Although it's harder to imagine that bunch doing what the Dems are doing.) Here is a good example that even in Mass., citizens want a balance of power:
