This has been Republicans’ classic mistake for decades. You think elections end things. You have voting day, someone wins, and you then go to a cocktail party to either celebrate or complain about all the reasons you lost (which never own up to your own laziness). Then, you forget about elections for the next two years and play a lot of golf and eat a lot of steak, while Democrats keep burning the midnight oil with takeout and pizza never, ever leaving campaign mode.
